Steel Cooling Tower
Zack Painting had the opportunity to showcase our skills on this Steel Cooling Tower Project.
The existing conditions of the substrate were heavily corroded with pack rust and the existing coating was falling off. First, we prepared the substrate with a hand tool /power tool clean. Scrapers & grinders were used to remove rust and flaking paint as well as a 4,000 PSI pressure washer to properly clean the surface prior to coating application. We then coated the steel, pipe, and concrete surrounding the wall with an epoxy coating. After applying the epoxy coating, we finished all three substrates with a polyurethane topcoat to minimize chalking and allow for UV exposure. Based on the conditions of the surrounding area of this tower, an atrium lift was necessary to remain safe and secure while in the air and ensure all areas of the tower were properly accessible to prep, coat, and finish.
